What are webrings?

A webring is a ring of websites that link to each other under a shared interest. This could be something as broad as being trans, to more specific interests like knitting or video games. It gained prominence in the 90s/ early 2000's as a way to find websites that focused on similar subjects before search engines where perfected. With the current indie web revival, they've made a resurgence!

To join a webring typically requires filling out an application from the moderator of said webring. If you're accepted, you'll receive a widget that links to a website previous to you, a website after you, and often a random button that links to any other site in the webring.
